The Knicks could give Chauncey Billups at the end of last season and would be accountable for $ 3.7 million of its $ 14.2 million salary. But the former president Donnie Walsh, the team decided to keep Billups and fully guarantee his salary, which is still to be paid in full (minus games lost due to blocking).

Knicks interim general manager Glen Grunwald said he spoke with Billups and tried to apologize for the removal surprise. "We did not want to get rid of Chauncey Billups,''he said." When I spoke to him today, I told him that it is not, as we refuse you, because we do not want you. Look at what it is you basically traded from the center of the team championship. So he understands. I wished him the best.''
Chauncey Billups, who can be claimed by any team, has told Yahoo! Sports, he wanted control over their destiny. He also said he would consider retirement if he selected a team that no championship contender.

"I know some teams out there are saying," Oh, Chauncey Billups will be great in coaching, "and I'm tired of being,''he said." I have a few good years left to play, and I'm not trying to come and sit on the bench or be a mentor. I'm not going to be that guy. I want to go anywhere and win.''

He could be back in Denver, but there may be assignments that may come back to haunt the Knicks is Miami. "I would like a chance at them, I can tell you that much,''he said ESPN.com." I love it.''
