Norman, Okla. — it seemed invincible, because for so long on the field, Owen, No 3 Oklahoma finally proved errors at home.

Seth Doege threw 441 yards and connected with Alex Torres on three of his four touchdown passes, and Texas Tech snapped Sooners 39-game home winning streak with a 41-38 victory Saturday night.

About 2:0 after the No. 4 Wisconsin, the second group of Top five went down on the first day of the College football season that really rocked the rankings.

"I don't know that it should be all that surprising," coach Bob Stoops said after just his third loss in 78 home games in Oklahoma. "Teams that we play you can come here and beat us. And can sometimes be too much said about it, as it may not happen.

"I told the players that anyone who we'll play the rest of the year would whoop us if we don't play better than we did today. They just flat out beat us. "

Without some significant dominoes falling in their favor Sooners dreams in winning the national title--the main reason for the all-American receiver Ryan Broyles and linebacker Travis Lewis returned their senior season--most likely shot.

Removed the Red Raiders, who after losing back-to-back rated opponents, a total of 12 points over the past two weeks were four touchdown underdogs.

"It's one game, but it is a huge game for the recruitment of national status. Obviously you haven't read too much about Texas Tech, "Tommy Tuberville said after the first milestone win of his brief tenure as the head coach of the technology.

"For some reason, I haven't seen much on TV. Sure, you will see it the next few days. We will be proud of. When you go on the road and beat Group No. 1 (coaches poll), this is really special. It's almost impossible to do. "

Doege, carved Oklahoma defense missing three starters, helping the Red Raiders (5-2, 2-2 big 12) became the first opponent to the CTA in 2005 year season opener win in Norman. Oklahoma State is the only other win Norman, Stoops final regular season of the year 2001.

Sooners renounced 572 yards total offense.

It is shocking, "said defensive end Frank Alexander. "We never want to throw that many yards on defense. We pride ourselves on being great defense. Tonight we do not display this attitude. "

Doege, passer fourth leading nation was a little problem, leading the Red Raiders up and down the field with the Sooners banged up. Oklahoma was without cornerback Jamell Fleming (knee), defensive tackle Casey Walker (left thumb) and middle linebacker Tom wort (concussion).

"It hurts us, and some of them couldn't help it," Lewis said. "I know I was playing with broken legs and coaches would have to drag me out for me not to play. So, (I) disappointed in some of the guys. "

It was one another even before it started. A storm packing heavy winds, heavy rain and lightning arrived just before kickoff and fans were asked to leave the stands and take refuge in the halls. The game began with a delay of 1:35, and almost immediately hit Texas Tech.

Doege threw touchdown passes, 30 and 44 yards 11 Torres build 31-7 lead just over 2 minutes in the second half and Red Raiders hung on from there.

After Jones ' 22-yard TD pass to James Hannah cut the deficit to three, Aaron Crawford recovered onside kick with 69 seconds left to seal the victory. Red Raiders profits, bouncing off the side to celebrate.

– Special for the entire group. "I'm excited about it, said Doege."The best part of her seeing how happy and excited my teammates are. We all come together, and we pulled it off. All I do not think that we could.

Victory is not tech losing three straight games for the first time since 1998, and in stunning fashion. Red Raiders came as huge underdogs, playing on the field, where until last month, in a game against Missouri, nobody but the Sooners had even led for 20 straight games spanning back to the year 2007.

There haven't been many squeakers, either. Oklahoma margin victories were 30 points.

Sooners have been synchronized in this though, the failure to get their high-powered offense in a fast paced, that gives so many opponents in trouble. They were unable to get the first down for the second quarter, when the tech capitalized 17 points clear and do not click until it is too late.

Oklahoma received no help from his kicker, either. Michael Hunnicutt missed a 39-yard field goal in the first half and 28 Road off the right upright with 2: 52 left proved to be critical.

With lead, begin to decline Tuberville got in gambling mood. Already cashed in the quarter-and-1 for a touchdown, he went for it again from the 6-yard line and got stuffed Crawford.

He then took another chance, calling a fake punt on fourth and 4 side technology in midfield and upback, who got a stuffed Jackson Richards close enough to the first down, officials took a second look at the replay.

Oklahoma capitalized on a short time, requiring seven plays to cover 44 yards and get within 31-24 at Trey Millard 3-yard TD catch, to begin in the fourth quarter.

Doege had an answer, though. He led Texas Tech down to 39-yard field Goal and Donnie Carona bump the lead back to 10 and, after another Oklahoma three and out, Tramain Swindall got his left leg 14-yard touchdown grab make 41-24 lead with 7: 38 to play.

Oklahoma was wondering after landing 55 yard Jaz Reynolds to grab, but could not become only the ninth team in the history of the Bowl Subdivision win 40 straight home game.
