Sri Shikshayatan College was founded July 8, 1955 for girls from Calcutta University. Created Marwari, linguistic minorities, it is managed and operated by Shikshayatan Foundation (formerly known as the Marwari Balika Vidyalaya Society registered with the Companies Act for registration), which is held exclusively for education and not commercial purposes.
As a minority language, it is protected under Article 30 (1) of the Constitution of India. Originally designed to communicate and promote the education of girls Marwari community, it has been for many years, have opened their doors in response to manifold pressure, all eligible students, a girl, regardless of caste , creed, religion or language.
