Arlington, Texas - A fan died Thursday night from injuries sustained after falling into the left-field seats at Rangers Ballpark in trying to catch a ball thrown to him by Josh Hamilton.

Texas Rangers declined to identify the victim. Mayor Bobby Rountree told the Brownwood Bulletin Brownwood, that the victim was Shannon Stone, Brownwood firefighter.

Fans sitting near the man said he had Brownwood firefighter, who took part in the game for his son.

A press release from the Arlington Fire Department said that the fan is a full cardiac arrest on the way to Jean-Pierre Smith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:26 CDT. He fell at 19:33

"We've had this afternoon a very tragic accident, and one of our fans lost their lives to reach the wall trying to catch a ball," team president Nolan Ryan. "As an organization and as a team and staff, who are the heart very hard on this, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family."

The accident occurred on the second run. Oakland right fielder Conor Jackson hit a ball over the left field line and the ball ricocheted back onto the field.

Hamilton took the ball and threw it against the fan who leaned over the ball, slipped and went overboard head first. The Rangers said he fell about 6 feet of § 5 in an opening between the stands and out of town scoreboard.

The game was stopped for a moment, and Hamilton continued to stare at the wall from the rest of the round. The fan was taken to an order of magnitude on a stretcher after an almost immediate response by emergency personnel.

Ronnie Hargis, and Hawley, near Abilene, sitting next to the fan. Hargis said he attended the game with his son. Hargis never imagined that his son had 6-8 years.

"I tried to catch it, but I could not," said Hargis. "I tried to slow down. He went straight down."

The drop was close to the Bullpen Athletics'. Relievers Brad Ziegler, Craig Breslow, and Joey Devine could see the man conscious and moving as he was taken to the hospital.

Ziegler sobbed in the flag of Oakland after the game.

"They had him in a stretcher and took him to," said Ziegler. "He said things like:" Please see my son "And the people said." Let's see your son, sir. "

"I think I have pinned my arm down, but was conscious and moving. Come to know that this is just hard."

The Rangers club was closed to reporters after the Rangers 6-0 in Hamilton, the champion of the American League MVP with four RBIs.

Ryan said the team had been informed of the death. Former President George W. Bush was at the game and was informed of the accident, said Ryan.

"We talked about the ball club, so we understand what happened," said Ryan. "Since none of us would have, Josh is very upset by this part."

The death comes nearly a year the day after Tyler Morris, firefighter, Lake City, fell to second lowest level of the bowl and try to take a foul ball hit 6 July 2010.

Morris suffered a fractured skull and ankle.
